DescriptionI call this a "Sea Glass" set (with quotes) because I'm pretty sure the "sea glass" is plastic. But I like the way it looks, so whatever. I discovered that X-weave / Spring Chain / Forars Kaede doesn't work very well with my 9/64 bright aluminum links from Weave Got Maille: the slightly larger wire diameter (.035" vice .032") gives it an AR of 4.018, which is below the recommended minimum AR of 4.1 and makes it too stiff for a regular chain. Note: it is possible to weave it using those links, though, so I think the min AR in the weave description is slightly high. I solved the stiffness problem by making sections of Forars Kaede of 12 rings each, then connected them through the last two links (through the "X") with two 7/64" rings. The center section of the necklace (and the earrings) are Byzantine in 7/64" and 9/74" rings, with Mobius Ball connections at the end and in the middle. Also utilized some very shiny and faceted probably-plastic 6mm beads bought at a local trade show, some 2mm crimp beads, and an argentium toggle (not shown) from Weave Got Maille.Weave(s) Used (Click to View Weave)Byzantine, Mobius Ball, X-weave / Spring Chain / Forars KaedeImages Tags (Click to Search Gallery)Tag(s): Aluminium, Bead, Earrings, Jewellery Set, NecklaceWeave(s): Byzantine, Mobius Ball, X-weave / Spring Chain / Forars Kaede |
