DescriptionDoubling the basic 2 in 1 Chain weave and using large enough rings allows each cell to become a cage to facilitate the assembly of "4 in 2 Captive" (Captive 4 in 2 Chain). The cages present are less sturdy than those found in the extra sided Inverted Round, and other prime candidates such as Box Chain 4 in 1, and Full Persian 6 in 1.This weave can be made in a single ring size, but the ring sizing requirement to do so is not less than an AR of 7.5, which is quite high. Using smaller captives, the weave becomes far more AR-accessible, but at the cost of slightly less secure cages. As long as the captives aren't too small it shouldn't be an issue with this, the one captive per cell version, but a separate issue that is brought to the table is ring size specificity. .078" (2.0mm) aluminum 9/32" (7.14mm), 23/128" (4.56mm) mandrels .308", .194" ID AR of 3.9, AR of 2.5 This sample is the approximate 2 ring size minimum possible AR for this weave which makes it quite tight. An AR difference in the 1.4 - 1.5 range seems to be adequate, although I've only personally tested this with one other combination: AR of 4.4 for the 4 in 2 Chain, with an AR of 2.9 for the captives.
