Description

I made these special fixtures for coiling very tough stainless steel into very consistant rings. They're made of hardened O-1 tool steel with bronze bearings at each end. They're kept very sort to prevent the hardened tool steel mandrels from flexing. The air gap between the mandrel and the base is gapped just slightly larger than the diameter of the material to allow for some spring back (enough to allow the coil to be removed easily).
