DescriptionIn February 2008 I uploaded to Flickr photos of what I thought was an original variation of helm maille I called the Spot of Gold that evolved mainly due to my interests in the jewelry trade. In my gallery submission of the E4-1 vest (work in progress) I’m wearing a single strand of the original 5356 BA MIG welding wire chocker chain that was used to create the sheet in this Bikini tops construction. This photo is recent only because of a request for a better photo in my submission. I kept this one as a sample all these years which of course has become extremely oxidized. (no longer silvery)Weaves used: variations of Helm Chain, Helms Deep Chain, Conundrum, and Byzantine. Wire used: (Helm) WD 1.20 ID’s: 7mm and 4mm, WD 0.80 ID 4mm, (Byzantine) under 5mm.
