Description

Done for a Harry Potter fiction/art/craft fest, whose theme was Severus Snape & Hermione Granger, and included what-ifs and non-canonical events. Done to the following prompt:
"The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed." -- Carl Jung

This necklace is symbolic of the impact Severus and Hermione have on each other when they meet as something other than just teacher and student. I've called it The Alchemy of Friendship rather than The Alchemy of Love because it doesn't have to be a romantic relationship in order to be transforming.

On one side we have the black, Severus, and on the other side we have the copper-brown, Hermione. When they meet in the middle, the black is transformed to silver, the copper to gold; from base metal to noble, because they bring out the best in each other.
