I came up with this when I was trying to find a way to add a pocket on a maille shirt. When I was searching to determine if this had been submitted when I found Spiral Cage. This modification is like Spiral Cage but only has 3 “spines,” 3 rows attached to a central column of rings.

This one column can be twisted to produce a left or right handed spiral. This works well for attaching to the top and bottom edges of European 4 in 1. Or, the column can be twisted back and forth. This works for attaching to the side edges of European 4 in 1.

The spines are denser than European 4 in 1 made of the same size rings, so adjustments must be made to determine a nice fit with your ring of choice.

The sample pictured is AA 12swg 3/8” AR-3.9.
I've also used AA 18swg 3/16” with AR-4.1 with good results.
