DescriptionMy entry for Theme Contest #5: Animal Armo(u)r (June 16 - September 1, 2008).The first article of maille "clothing" I've completed. 20g (.032"(AWG)/.036"(SWG), .813mm(AWG)/.914mm(SWG)) wire in brass, copper, and galvanized steel. Size #33 (.112", 2.845mm) mandrel, score and break cuts. 4052 rings total. And I have quite a few leftover rings. Weave is European 4 in 1 Unbalanced (listed on M.A.I.L. as Oops). All the wire was packaged and labeled as 20g, but the 20g copper was a bit thicker than either the 20g brass or galvanized. I haven't taken calipers to the wire yet to get accurate measurements, so right now the nominal information is the only data I have for the materials, and that's why I'm listing both AWG and SWG conversions. For an archive of the theme contests, see the article Theme Contest Archives.
