DescriptionA sample of the Quad Captive Inverted Round weave with each ring type (cage and captive) made of the same wire size.
Bright aluminum with a wire diameter of .078" (5/64" / 1.98mm / (slightly under 14 SWG)) was wrapped around mandrels sized 3/8" (9.525mm), and 31/64" (12.3mm) for the cages and captives, respectively. Resulting inner diameters measure .412" (10.46mm) and .537" (13.64mm), thus yielding an AR of 5.3 and AR of 6.9.
Using the same wire size for each ring type causes the aspect ratio of the cage rings in this sample to be the minimum for the weave, provided only one captive is inserted in each cell/cage. The larger, captive rings have a variance of between AR of 6.3 and AR of 7.0, although leaning towards the higher end of this spectrum fills in each cage better.
