DescriptionA closeup of the corner of a chess board (back view) to show how the Half Persian 4 in 1 trim is connected to the European 6 in 1 board along both grains. The rings in the European 6 in 1 are made out of .062" (16 SWG/1.57mm) wire made on a 5/16" (7.94mm) mandrel and have an average AR of 5.5. The rings in the Half Persian 4 in 1 are made of the same wire size wrapped on a 3/8" (9.525mm) mandrel, yielding an average AR of 6.6. The black rings that divide the squares were made with galvanized steel rings darkened in lemon juice. Some of them have since rusted. Ideally, I'd like to replace the lot with black anodized aluminum. One day, maybe I will.
