I posted this mainly for Harleys Chains. I suppose this could be considered a new weave but I think it's more of an embellishment really. I wanted to use two metals in Byzantine web with silvery stainless Byzantine units connected with copper. I also wanted the weave to be stiff; but in order to get that stiffness the connecting rings had to be small and in fact when I tried it the copper connecting rings were obscured and the two colour effect was lost. My solution? Use larger connecting rings and add additional rings of the same metal to buttress the Byzantine strands and hold them in place. The Byzantine rings in this picture are stainless 16 ga 3/16 i.d. The connecting rings are copper 16 ga 3/8ths i.d. and the extra buttress rings are copper 16 ga 3/16 i.d. Quite unintentionally I've created something that could be modified and further embellished. The buttress rings could be used to put something in the centre of the hexagon.
