So what if the contest was just 4-1, any weave where only 4 rings go into 1?

It could still be confusing. In a single row of euro 4-1 only the center rings pass through 4 the outside ones only 2 Razz

You're right! So what if it was a Max of 4 rings through 1?

That seems overly complicated. Just say "4-in-1 weaves" and leave it open to interpretation, as usual.

So.

Theme: 4-in-1 weaves

Theme: threefold

Threefold symmetry, three ring sizes, triangles, elements repeated three times, three colours... anything that's threefold.

Japanese 4 in 1 doesn't qualify as a true four in one weave. Two thirds of its rings only pass through two.

There is no such thing as weave ownership. If someone produces a weave sample, they own that physical piece of mail, but not rights to the weave pattern itself.

what about j 4 in 2? maybe if we worked it so 1/3 of the j4in1 links passed through 2 it could work for the threefold. or maybe I'll make something four a 33rd degree mason

for thre fold could it work to have made it in three months, three weeks, three days ect? or you could do an inlay of three three toed sloths. or any 3d weave.

You guys are not making this easy... Razz Please make sure that you come back and clarify your suggestions so that I know how to phrase it and put it on the list?

Just to be clear "what about ______?" is not a suggestion. And "I like ______ " is not a suggestion or a seconding of a suggestion. Smile

Second floor sweepings.

I won't have time to participate, but after seeing what people came up with for non-metal, I think this could be awesome. And inspiring for my own stash of floor sweepings.

Theme: Human weaves

Get your friends and use your arms or hands to form rings.

Theme: Different connectors

Of each ring the connected rings have to be of a different i.d. and/or AR

I second, third, whatever the '4in1' suggestion.

And besides that, I rate even Japanese 4in2 as valid as it were plain ol' Byzantine, as a kinged ring pair remains structurally a single ring, and can be anytime substituted by one. So I'd interpret that possible theme in a way that any weave, that either bears a name containing '4in1' (rightfully or not), or is structurally one (even if not named so), would fulfill the theme. But e.g. 6in1 progressions of a 4in1 basis weave would not more comply.

And if in doubt, it's anyway up to the voters to decide, whether the topic was missed or hit.

Human societies are like chain mail.
A single link will be worth nothing.
A chain is of use, but will break at the weakest link.
A weak weave will have the need to replace weak links.
A strong weave will survive even with weak links included.

What is the "4 in-1" suggestion? No one has worded it in a way that makes sense as a suggestion? I'm happy to put it on the list, but what does it mean? In other words... is the suggestion simply "4 in 1"?

Oh wait... I see this now. I'm going to go with "4 in 1 weaves". If there are objections, please let me know in PM?
