Stretchy Finger Ring

Hi, I'm wanting to make some finger rings using anodized aluminium and rubber rings. Until now I have used a European 6 in 1 weave where the central row is aluminium and the two outer rows are rubber. I was wondering if anyone had a tutorial or knew how to make them so the rubber rings finished in the center row and the aluminium formed the top and bottom rows of the ring.

I hope this makes sense, thanks

Excellent advice by master wakefreak, that said I would add one small respectful caveat:

If your design (as was suggested) means you have metal on metal all the way round the length of the ring then you will loose the flexibility afforded to you by the neoprene links.

Seems like silly advice I know, but I have known several people who spent several hours unpicking and swearing over this small oversight.

Also FILE YOUR METAL LINKS! Neoprene HATES burrs.

I wish you the best of luck with this most enjoyable project and if you can don't forget to post pictures. Very Happy

What about EPDM? I've made finger rings with EPDM and saw-cut non-filed stainless & haven't had a problem yet, but is it fairly nick-resistant? I know silicone isn't.

To be honest it's probably the links I was using at the time. They were very burry! So I got into the habit of being a bit OCD on the inner loop! Resistance wise there is very little difference between the 2.

Last thing you want is someone coming back to you with a sale item thats done the perished elastic band trick.

So yeah, with perspective your right; it'll probably be fine.

As for silicone <shudder> don't remind me....
