Turns out I had enough rings to convert my entry from a necklace-in-progress to a bracelet. So here is my entry:

An elfsheet chevron cuff. Made with a 45 degree "seam" - there is a single strand of elfweave in the seam, and two sheets are attached to the sides at a 45 degree angle. The join has a front and a back side, but wearing it either way looks fine. I plan to change the clasp to a tube clasp later, as it makes the chevron shape more pronounced when wearing it.

Made with who-knows-how-many 16g 1/4" black ice aa rings.

Rhiannon1984 and wantillese, I just need both of you to resize your pictures to abide by the contest rules.

3. Pictures and descriptions of the entry should be submitted to the contest submission thread before the deadline, by hosting the pictures offsite. (In other words, you need to use an image hosting site to place your picture in the entry thread. They are free to use, you just have to register with them to create an account. Some examples of image hosting sites are TinyPic, Photobucket, Flickr, and ImageShack.) Pictures must be a MAXIMUM of 100KB and a MAXIMUM of 800px per side.

Sorry to yell, but it's really close to the deadline for entries! Very Happy

Last year I showed you a few pictures of Playmo-Maille. The knight was protected, but his horse wasn't. So for this contest I made horse-armour:

Statistics:
ring count: ~ 2100
ring size: 0.4 mm wire and ID = 1.4 mm
material: silver wire with copper core
I had to sew the maille together at the front of the horse. So I can remove it easily without destroying and replacing some of the rings.

Is it too late to enter? I have a piece I started on in December, but I never thought I'd be done in time so I didn't throw my hat in the ring. I should be done by tomorrow at the latest.

Say hello to Irene,

You can see more pictures along with a description here on my site.

Here is the sticky part. The EPMD rings are slightly smaller than the BA rings. It's hard to tell with the naked eye but the calipers show the difference.
BA rings, AR 4.0 .048 .195
EPMD rings, AR 3.8 .052 .198
This is as close to the same size as I could pull off. If you feel this violates the theme of the contest I'm OK with that I had to make it anyway.

Everything but the chin straps are some variation of J6in1. The chin straps are roundmaille to 2in2 to roundmaille.

All said and done I estimate around 3900 BA rings with 1500-2000 EPMD rings.
The completed mask is 310 grams, I used 263 grams of BA and 47 grams of EPMD.

Welcome!

It's not too late, but you have until this monday to take and post a picture of your creation.

Better post it on sunday, since the closing hour (and time zone) is not specified.

I'm in the US and will close the entry thread down at midnight Eastern Standard Time Zone, end of Monday March 11.

1. Entries must be previously unsubmitted work. Entries must be at least 2/3 maille woven within the time frame of the contest. The remaining 1/3 can be any maille previously woven or any non-maille.

Oh T*ts. One day to go and there is me suffering for my lack of reading the "not so small print"........

Edit: Withdrew entry. ~Lorraine

Can I convince anyone that I did 2/3rds of this 4.7 mm ID, 1 mm WD in stainless steel within the time frame of the contest? Mmmmm probably not.
Oh well, may the best person win. Very Happy

I'll get you next time my pretty!
