HEY.
I'm making an 8-in-1 armpiece to sew in my jacket. I know it's quite time consuming, I've already clocked in 4 or 5 hours on an 8" by 8" piece (I've only been doing this maille business for a few months if that sounds high, HAH). Luckily the piece I'm making doesn't need to be that much larger.

Here's my question: Has anyone ever made an 8-in-1 shirt or vest (Or dren like 10-in-1, etc?). I'm using 16 gauge steel and I'm thinking of just using large rings and soldering them, and I'm just curious as to how long it took someone.
WELL THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Eh you can't solder steel. You could maybe weld it but that seems overkill on that size. I have no idea how long it would take you as that kind of thing depends on practice/experience.

My first chainmaille project was an 8" by 8" sheet of E 8-1. But, I was using 20ga 3/16" rings. It took FOREVER.

you can solder steel, it just not practical.

8in1..humm i think 3/4" should do it for size in 16g, but as to the time it would take that all depends on the artisan so i don't think any one could give you a figuer for shure.

haveing said that, last pice i did (8in1 berk) took most of two years. (on and off). ither way good luck to ya!
