would anyone find an article detailing rin-counting methods for Euro sheets helpful?

I've made a little formula that will acuratly count rings in any balanced euro sheet and if anyone thinks it would be helpfull i'll write it up.

That would be very helpful for some.

T=(R(HV)+(hv))

it doesn't look too friendly though...

now what do the coefficients mean? T=Total, right?

T= total rings
R= ring intersect count(e 4 in one)
H= horizontal count of columns
V= Vertical count of ring sections per colomn
h= horizontal count of connection rings colomns
v= vertical count of rings per horizontal connection colomn

yes, it seems hopelessly confusing when presented just in test.

Cool, I was hoping you had a 6-1 version of the equation! Guess you don't even need a new equation.

do you think that there is some way to alter it for DS. maybe by doubling the columns section?

AARRrGg

now you've gone and done it! give me a few minutes

it wouldn't be doubled because DS is interlocked helm chain. I'll have to come up with a new formula for it

OK here goes

This defines between the "primary"(external chains) and the "Secondary"(internal chains)

Primary being the longer of the two and the one you start weaving first.

Key:
    P= Primary large rings
    p= Primary small rings
    S= Secondary large rings
    s= Secondary small rings
    W=Ring count of "P" rings on horizontal axis
    H= Ring count of "P" rings on vertical axis
    LT=Full count of large rings
    ST= Full count of small rings
    T= Total ring count

T={LT+ST}
LT={(WH)+((W-1)+(H-1))}
ST={((W-1)+(H-1))+((W-2)+(H-2))}

or for just a fast count without distinction between ring sizes:

T={((WH)+2((W-1)+(H-1))+((W-2)+(H-2))}

If this seems a bit confusing, it is. If you need a formula for closed sheets of DS just DECREASE the SUBTRACTIONS in the formulae by one. That will give you an accurate count.

keep in mind that this still only works with sheets and can't handle any non-rectangular shapes.

keep them coming and I might actually have enough for an article. Smile

Pretty cool! What kind of background do you have in math Chaos? I just wouldn't have the patience to do the calculations... Laughing

high school algebra 2! not including personal studies in quantum physics, chaos theory, and "advanced spiritual interrogatives"

Jonathon am crazy in a way not many am...

jonathon can also explain who to make things fly with no physical propulsion and how to build a REAL lightsaber too. But he still needs a power source for am everything to workeded.

that was ten minutes of sitting down and looking at a little piece of DS and a 8.5x12 sheet of paper, a blue pen and a black pen.

for HP 6-1 sheet simply count the bottom edge(shown in orange) and muliply it by the number of rows going up the side. so really just
t=total
h=horizontal ring count
v=horizontal rows

t=hv
