Hmm need a UK distributor. Import duty is crippling. Very Happy

Those exactly. I'd mail you all the left overs but it's probably just as expensive Sad

I'll sniff something out. I might be able to pull on some contacts in Canada.

That said I'm quite surprised we haven't set up a bulk postal service based on the honor system, paypal the cash over. the locals buy, repackage and send off with 'Gift has zero value' written all over it. I'm quite sure that it's difficult to prove if you only send packages on actual (or around) birthdays, anniversaries etc etc etc. Anyway I digress. Lovely work. Very Happy

Here's mine! It's something I've been wanting to do for a while, so Yay M.A.I.L. for pushing me to do it.

This here is a maille-wrapped cane, in the best Steampunk style.

This picture is more close-up, but cuts off the bottom part:

At the top there are two large Anodized Aluminium (gold) washers tied on with leather thonging; this enables the rest to be attached to the cane. The main wrap is two different chains spiralling around the shaft.

Weave: Japanese 6 in 2 (Japanese 6 in 1 with one set of rings doubled)
washer-ring WD=2.0mm ID=3.0mm (Brass)
large ring WD=1.0mm ID=4.76mm Anodized Aluminium (gold).

Weave: Rosetta
Rings: WD=1.0mm ID=4.0mm (Anodized Aluminium, Steel) (gold)

Craft isn't cheaper than therapy, but it's more fun.

Me too. The contests keep me going when my motivation is zilch.

To answer your earlier question, I found the clock hands and "gears" at the craft store Michael's. They were in the jewelry section with other accessory-type doo-dads. They were basically in a small "Steampunk" display and got them in order to "put some gears on it" Coif LoL

Hey I'm not trying to really "promote" this BUT my Mum has a supply store on Etsy, she does REALLY cheap shipping (even for the UK) and has a bunch of gears/keys etc for steampunk style stuff. PM me if you want to check her stuff out.

I've always meant to make something steampunk, and this contest finally game me an excuse to not keep putting it off. Therefore, may I present to you, my steampunk cuff!

It started with a working pocketwatch mechanism, wrapped in a European/Gridlock style copper wrap, with the "glass" of the pocketwatch being wrapped with it to protect the delicate mechanism. I then added some Helmish units, using a craft gear as the front and stainless steel on the back, with square brass rings sandwiched and helmed with bronze, and made a type of band. Not being too happy with it, I made a leather cuff with some 9oz leather and snaps that resemble bullet casings, and mounted everything using some brass wire and more bronze rings. Next, I added the brass coils, the watch face, and the fuses, made with copper wire for the inside and attached with small sections of JPL. To finish it, I hand stitched the copper wire edging and added small brass spiral filigrees to give it some style.

Oooo that's going to green down beautifully. Copper and leather do fun things together! That is not a criticism, honestly I like to see people thinking of the "longer game" when it comes to making things.

I recognise those cogs too! Excellent usage! I also have to say that you've captured that mechanism really nicely. Many an hour I've spent varying links round the circumference of an object I want to encapsulate. Pick a bad one, and it can take days. Very Happy

Good work, and nice additions too! (where did you get those leaf tubes on the left. They are lovely.)

I found the leaf tubes at Jo-Ann's. They come in copper, brass, and bronze colored too.

Queen's Reign Necklace

This is about as Steampunk as I could get with what I have. The bolts are base metal, all other with exception to the clasp is brass. I used a design I made called Queen's Reign as the pendant with a black 18mm Swarovski black rivoli.

Made within the last 3 days. My first time entering in this kind of thing so I hope I do it right

I do like that! bolts and chain. Never thought of that before. Very cool and might I add an expertly executed piece of encapsulation!

Of course you realise that now you've considerably upped the game, I'm going to have to bring the "big guns" out now..... Very Happy
