I have 25 boxes of wire that I'd like to sell. Figured I'd offer it here first, and pass on my savings to other MAIL members.

Alcotec, Alloy 4043 aluminum, 1/16" 1.6mm diameter, 20lb spools. Brand new in packaging, July 2010 manufacturing date.

$50 per spool, plus shipping.
A large USPS priority box holds one spool and costs $15 anywhere in the USA.

For anyone curious about 4043 Aluminium, let me fill you in a little:

4xxx alloys are alloyed with Silicone, the alloy name is 'Silinium'... These wires are very soft compared to the Aluminium that you all know and love that you buy online (Most likely a 5xxx series Magnesium alloy.)

They're not so great for standard maille useage, the wire is very ductile, and your rings will just open themselves.

THAT BEING SAID

This alloy has TONS of uses... I purchase it on a frequent basis to make twisted wire rings with... (Twist two or three strands together using a pin-vise or a drill, prior to coiling and cutting.)
It's also great for other wire-related crafts, such as Viking Knit, Prolong Knot Bracelets, Foxtail (if you have access to a welder) etc...

Articles this Wire also might be fun for:

If anyone's looking for 4043 alloy wire (also called AlSi5 alloy) in Europe, I have a bunch of 6kg spools of 0,75mm that I don't use (one spool is A LOT of wire, let alone what, 8?). It's very soft and while it does work-harden, it gets too brittle before it gets hard enough for maille. I think I paid €30 each.
