yeah if you used say a 16mm chain then coated it in a tube of maille they cant apply the jaws of the bolt cutters to the chain or a saw or a grinder without first removing the maille

Hmm ye maybe they will like the look of it

I think it would cost them more time thats the idea ill stick with leather cover for now though

I wonder if a thick chain for locking a bike up with if i knitted a tube of chainmail around it would detter people further im sure it would make it more hassle to get off so more time

Well my shirt is 1.6mm Wire, 6mm ID.
Its galvanised steel.
Its butted rings , And its pretty strong, I have stabbed it and it took the force of a knife...

Dont mean to Crap on anyones birthday cake, But i have a Kevlar vest that i bought for a Mere £30 .

That would offer good protection.
Easy to get those too.
