PI?(ID+WD)(WD) + PI*WD?/2

Presto! I think that's the easiest form.
You could pull the Pi and Wd out and make:
PI * Wd [PI * (ID+WD) + Wd/2]

That seems a bit easier, especially for those who ar ...

While I own several hundred dollars worth of pliers, I must admin that my favorite are the ones that TRL sold me when I first joined MAIL.

Go figure. I own $26/ea pliers and my favorites are $4/ea. ...

As long as the aluminum is full hard, there should be no problem with those rings as far as weight goes. I also don't forsee any problems with weaving rings of that size/gauge into a pouch. Go for it! ...

I would hand the rings to hang permanently open. I wouldn't want my tie to move like a shirt does. As long as you're using a tight weave, the weave hanging open won't look bad at all anyway.
