Wouldn't the oven need to be set warmer than the 525 mark? As I understand the whole thermal transfer concept it's impossible for air @ 525 to heat the much denser steel to 525 degrees.

If you're going to define families by ring interaction then shouldn't the only true 'families' of weaves be TE, AE, Orbital and Combo? Ultimately I think any definition of a family is at best nebulous ...

You'd have to look into how to do it for the individual materials, but I'm guessing electroplating would be your best bet
