ahh. If it has tension in the spool, you can try using a bit of twine or string to protect yourself. Tie it with a slip knot you can control and let it release slowly. Cutters

put the drill in reverse and release the tension a little bit. Spring back can really injure you if you aren't careful.

Anyone considered doing garland for a Christmas tree in maille? A nice bird cage weave or full persian in bright aluminum would look really impressive...

Wouldn't need more than about 20 or 30 fee ...
