Harvest Moon Tutorial

Step 0: Use a 1-2 chain segment as Starter ; it will be of advantage, especially for beginners, to add a piece of tie wire or a pre-existing chain segment (of any weave) to the single ring as a 'handle' - its value will prove later, if problems arise...

Step 1: Add a single ring to the starter's ring pair - now we have a 1-2-1 chain.
Step 2: Weave a further single ring, this time 'backwards', sandwiched between the starter's ring pair, and 'left' around the previously set ring.
Step 3: Add a ring pair now, through step 2's ring, and sandwiching step 1's one - do NOT weave through that one! Now the chain's 'tail' looks like the starter's end, just rotated 90 degrees.
Note: If rings fall out of their position, and you seem to have ended with an 'unsortable jumble of rings', simply hold the chain down the tie wire or chain 'handle', maybe shake a bit, and all rings will fall back into their proper position. And if you're able to combine steps 2 and 3, you can use preclosed or 'rubber' rings, to create stretchy pieces, or to speed up weaving.

Repeat steps 1 to 3. Now the chain's end has reached the orientation of the starter, again.

'Rinse and repeat', until the wished chain length is reached.
Have fun.
