European 4 in 1
(CGI; Ribbon) [2]
Article © MAIL User: Pholon

(This article was original submitted as a "chain-to-chain" method, more commonly known as the "ribbon" method. -- Ed.)

This is an article on how I weave my European 4 in 1.

It's similar to Euro 4-1 (chain) but the difference lies in making (bigger) separate units first, leaving you less dependent on previous work and allowing you to work on them freely (I used to do mail when traveling by train and didn't want to bring all the stuff I'd already done with me).

We start out with just making 4-1 units. Close 4 rings, 1 ring through them:

This allows you to pre-close about 50% of your rings (saves time) and since you'll need these units in a vast majority (compared to open rings) you can always do this.

Next, make chains (you get a 2-1-2-1-2-1 etc pattern).

When you have enough chains (good length etc) you can connect them. I usually connect the penultimate rings first since that makes it easier to lay it out afterward (orange ring):

After that the edge ring:

And after that the chains are easily connected and more chains can be added:

This is what I think if the fastest way to weave Euro 4-1. It also allows you to work on different parts separately (I usually get a bunch of chains first and connect them in the end, rather than making one chain and working from there). Hope this helps some people out. Cheers.
