Japanese 3 in 1
(branching)
Article © MAIL User: sakredchao
Speedweaving Japanese 3 in 1 is pretty easy.
You start by making 4-lets.

-----------------------------------------------
After you have a pile of 4-lets and opened rings,
attach three 4-lets to an opened ring and then close it.

-----------------------------------------------
Each time you add an opened ring, you should add two 4-lets.

-----------------------------------------------
When you close up the holes, grab 2 rings with your open and add one 4-let.
Make sure that none of the chains are twisted.
If chains get twisted, don't worry. It's just a matter of opening that ring and straightening the twist. Twisting isn't detrimental to the weave, but it is visible to one with 'maille eyes'.

-----------------------------------------------
Below is a progression of Japanese 3 in 1. Each hole should form a hexagon.
When expanding use heptagons (7 sided figure)
and when contracting use pentagons (5 sided figure).
Shirts use 2 contractions, one on the top of each shoulder,
and 2 expansions, one in each armpit.
You should be able to make most of a shirt with nothing but 4-lets and opened rings, but there will be some seams where you need loose closed rings.

I hope someone find this useful. good luck :)
