X-weave / Spring Chain / Forars Kaede
(Updated)
Article © MAIL User: Corvus

In this tutorial I'm using 1.2mm wire 5mm ID rings. AR for X-weave / Spring Chain / Forars Kaede should be around 4.1 - 4.2. Like Jens Pind Linkage this weave is very AR sensitive, too tight and it just won't work, too loose and the pattern won't hold.

I've decided I need to rewrite this article so here it is.
Turn the chain 1/4 round for each ring you weave into it.
The cross section of the chain should look like this

Like JPL, Forars Kaede has overlapping rows of rings, JPL has 3 rows FK has 4.

Start by adding 2 closed rings to 1 open one and close it. 3 rings together 1-1.

Overlap the two closed rings like this.

Turn the chain 1/4 round towards you and put another ring in like this.
Image: fk3.jpg

Put an open ring in following the green line up and under into the eye.

Like this.
Image: fk5.jpg

Turn the chain 1/4 towards you again and follow the green line with an open ring up and under through the eye.

Like this.
Image: fk7.jpg

Turn the chain 1/4 towards you again
Image: fk8.jpg

and put an open ring in the eye again, just like before.
Image: fk9.jpg

You should now be able to see the pattern.

Rinse, repeat.

Hope this tutorial is a bit better now.
