Stove Top Directions for Goldening/Browning Stainless Steel

Stove top means that your using the range (or heat elements) on top of the stove, not in the oven.
First off you'll need to have a chain made out of stainless steel. (coils could be done as well, however I'm not sure how good the consistancy of it is.) You can do this the smart way, unlike me, who almost got burnt trying to place a stainless chain on a red hot stove element.
1) The safe way. Place the chain along the element bands. (most stoves usually make a spiral towards the center.)
2) Then turn the heat on full blast.
3) Watch the chain, once the red heat starts to glow the reaction will take place quickly.
I left a chain on for about 15 seconds at red heat, half the chain was gold, the other a dull brown. (the part resting on the element got the brown.)
I hope you have found this article informative. Remember, stay safe. Don't touch red hot burners, and don't run with scissors.
