A render of a weird idea. A Full Persian section, but each ring is a circle of Full Persian. Kinda maille of maille. This would probably look cool, if someone made the rings of micromaille first and took the time. Wow, crazy.

Here's the arrowheads I got for my birthday. Some of you were asking to see them (note to admin for acceptance). I fixed up the picture a little to make them look more like they do in actuality.

Some very happy hoodoo. 16 SWG galvy with 3/16 ID. Leaves an AR of 2.9. Very snug. It has become my bracelet.

Finally! After more hours than I could count, my coif, my first large project, was finished on 2/22/04 at 8:44:12 PM Central. 16 SWG galvy 1/4", registering on the scale at exactly 2.5 kilograms, or 5 lbs 8.2 oz. I'm very proud of it. Notice the persian stitching at the chin edge.

A side angle view of my coif. I like the dense flow of the sides.

A closeup of the chin thingy I made up. It basically contracts from the chin in alternating contraction and non-contraction rings until it's closed up. I started by cutting out about a 4 inch wide section about an inch below the chin. I haven't seen this done before, but I think it looks cool and I can still talk fine with it.

My second micro piece. Just a fivelet. 32 AWG (.00795) wrapped around a 24 ga (.022) drill bit. Coil shown.

My DS belt. 1/4 and 3/8 16 SWG stainless, unpolished. Some of the cuts and closures are great, others are horrendous. The buckle is temp until I find one I can use.

My new 5/16 16g stainless HP4-1 necklace. Saw cut, polished rings. I'm very proud of this, and consider it my 'atonement' for the atrocity of my unpolished belt's poor closures.

My welded maille, actually the first stuff I made. 18g coated mild steel, 1/4 inch rings. I thought it was spot welded, but someone told me that it's actually "forge welding."

Exactly one month into my shirt, which will probably turn out as a haubergeon. Galvy and brass, 16g, 1/4 inch. This is half the body tube completed, looks like another 2 or 3 months work ahead. Supplies also shown, cutters, coils, pliers, and containers. The pliers are not rusted, just a weird effect of the picture.

A sterling silver HP 3-1 20g 1/8 thumb ring I made for a girl at school. Sold for $10. I had to make it larger after this pic was taken, and it's on my pinky here.

My GSG bracelet. Nothing special. 5/16 16 SWG stainless. I made the clasp by mangling another ring.

A tile of rendered brass-colored dragonscale. Meant for wallpaper. It's not perfect, if you look at the tesselation you can kinda see the flaw, but it's the best I could do.

A bunch of stuff I've made recently. All 3/4 hard 16 gauge stainless, in 1/4 and 5/16. There's bracelets in HP 3-1, HP 4-1, euro 4-1 with spikes, and DS. Then there's 3 fobs with no key ring in box, HP 3-1, and FP.

My first basket. Technically inside out, but it stands better that way. Stats are 16g stainless, 5/16 HP 3-1 6 for the sides, 5/16 and 3/16 jap 12-2 bottom and 3/4 persian rim. Sides and bottom attached with 1/4. Both the sides and bottom are somewhat loose, and I think it's the combination of them that makes the whole basket unstable. I can't figure out how to make hp 3-1 6 tighter for basket sides. It's a little better with the rim and taller sides, for the pic I just dropped it onto the table.
Why is there no Art:Baskets section?

My first hackey sack. Stats are 3/4 hard 16g TRL stainless, 1/4 inch rings. Uses two expanded circles attached with a strip of 4-1. Contains a piece of scrap rag that was cut to 5x5 inches and folded 4 times. 288 rings (if I counted right).

My tie, of which I hope to only make one. 16g stainless, cut with score and break. Almost entirely 1/4 inch. The body is euro 4-1 on a bias, and the knot is a jap 6-3 triangle wrapped in a biased euro 4-1 sheet. The jap is just to maintain the structure. The chain is HP 3-1.

My new DS ring, took about two hours. 162 rings. It's 20 gauge surgical stainless in 1/8 and 3/16. Kind of sickening that Buddha made a shirt of this.

A hackeysack made along the guidelines of my article, out of 16g 1/4 stainless. I burnt the rings with a propane torch because its for the sister of another hackysack customer, and they want it to be different somehow. It was fun, maybe I'll burn some other stuff too!

A very old bracelet belonging to my ex-girlfriend's grandmother. The weave is obviously E4-1, but my guess on material is brass or bronze, or at least something coppery, unless the picture is lying. The rings look to be on the order of 1/8 ID.

After four months, my HP3-1S6 vest based specifically on Dr. T's design. About 34-35 coils (14,000 rings) of 16g 5/16 stainless. It's symmetrical left to right and front to back. The chest and side panels are connected with euro 4-1.

True Byzantine Sheet Just make a chain of byzantine, and think of the top ring of a box as also being the bottom ring of a box facing the other way. It could be done into a cube also, but my AR here is too low. Sorry about the picture quality, and that the sample is very small. |
 |
Half Persian 4 in 1 Sheet 8 A "true sheet" of Half Persian 4 in 1, meaning that the connection between rows is done in the weave itself. Rings are tie wire, 18g, 3/8", yet still pretty tight. |
 |
Cobra / Hinge This is euro 4-1 with rows of the same direction linked into each other. For the sheet to work, the linkage has to alternate tilt every time. I called it hinge because it is vertically inflexible between down rows, but very flexible between up rows. This particular piece bends like a door hinge. The lower picture is 16g 5/16, the top picture is unknown ring size. Also submitted by Arquen.

 |
Cobra / Hinge Round The round version of my euro 4-1 squished to 6 weave. I like this a lot better than sheet. It took a while to sew up but it got easier. It's also possible to add onto the end of the chain.

Dragonlock A dragonscale version of gridlock. Two identical sheets are interwoven. This sample uses 16g 1/4 and 3/8, the same sizes that make good dragonscale.

Half Persian 3 in 1 Flip This is a weave I developed over a year ago. It's like Half Persian 3 in 1, but instead of staircased rows, they're staggered. Basically, the weave can't make up its mind about the lean, so the result is that each two ring unit is flipped upside down, as you can see in the top image. The next day during school I expanded it into a sheet, and I got Half Persian Sheet 4 in 1! I was so amazed by the visual and protective look of the sheet that I wanted to name it "Prince of Persia" but Lorenzo had already discovered it. But not the chain form! The bottom image is the weave on its side, a look I really like. This sample is 1/4 16g stainless.

 |
Strangebox / Agent of Insanity It's finally done. This is the box chain of strangemaille. The first known creators of this weave are Blackeagle13, Sakredchao, and myself, Tesserex. I've counted the intersections in most rings in this sample to make sure they are indeed 4-1. This piece is 5/16 16g stainless. Ignore the ends, there aren't enough rings there to form the correct shape. You may also be wondering how it's floating. I took the picture hanging from a pencil and then rotated it to fit well on the weaves page. |

Persian Inverse Flower This is a serendipitous first look into the possiblity of an inverse persian family. Simply, a piece of hilt chain, three units long, and folded outward into this flower formation. Shown are views of the top and side. |
 |
True Persian 12-1 Solid This weave is the ultimate incarnation of the Persian family. Every ring makes a Persian connection, and it is infinitely expandable in all three dimensions, resulting in a stiff 12-1 solid block. It also has no predefined top side. This piece is three layers high. It pyramids upward, the first two rows are three chains (six grains) wide; the bottom does not have down facing grains on it as would be expected for true pyramid effect. The bottom two sheet layers are six rings long, the top is four because I ran out of rings and it's VERY difficult to construct. This piece is 16g 3/8 stainless, AR around 6.3.
The basis for this weave is the following chain:
One and a Half Persian 6-1
It also can be thought of as many Hilt Chains woven together:
Hilt Chain
