DescriptionThis picture compares Captive Orbital Hex Cage in its newfound, multiple ring size approximate minimum AR of 4.2, 5.5, and 6.4 vs. its single ring size minimum AR of 6.6.First sample uses all .062" (1.6mm) wire: Orbitals: 23/64" (9.13mm) stainless steel: AR of 6.4 Connectors: 5/16" (7.94mm) bronze: AR of 5.5 Cage/captives: 15/64" (5.95mm) brass: AR of 4.2 Diameters listed are mandrel sizes. Measured IDs of .397", .341", and .260", respectively, were used to calculate the AR's. Second sample uses .048" (1.22mm) stainless steel wire wrapped on a 9/32" mandrel. Measured ID is .316" AR of 6.6 Reducing the size of the connectors and cage/captive rings enabled the lowering of the orbital rings below 6.6. This serves to close the gaps much further.
