Description14 SWG - 5/8" - AR 6.8 - Saw cut rings in jeweler's brass - 24" Candy Cane Cord (CCC) weave necklace with bronze clasp - most rings silver soldered. This was my prototype for a later creation for my brother. The final 28" continuous chain (not-pictured) required a large 18lb vibe tumbler to do both the removal of the copper patina and subsequent polishing. Heating brass to 1200F causes some of the copper in the alloy to surface, carefully monitoring a bath of 6-micron Aluminum Oxide pre-polish for rock tumblers and stainless pins works well to remove the patina. Be careful!!! This process wears out the pins and the 1st time I did this I ruined 10% of rings in the chain by leaving it in the tumbler for too long and they partially ground through each other. Also... CCC has a nasty habit of capturing balls and ball-cones internally. Try to go with pins only or balls that can slip through the weave easily.
