I remember seeing it in discussion, but I can't remember what it stood for.

I'm never in favor of acronyms that sound forced. If you want a short sweet name, just call yourselves that.

Wire Artisans would be fine.

WAIL is also good, but "Wail" works only as a long version, unlike WIRE or MAIL which tell you what it is.

*shrug*

You could do a lot worse. He's got lots of time to think up a good name.

Wire International is a good start. Repository and Exchange makes it sound like a comercial warehouser/distributor more than a community, (actually, that's a really really good name for a wire dealer though, damn).

I dunno, I think it's kinda catchy, while at the same time sounding regal and official-like. Repository of knowledge and exchange of ideas, and goodness knows it's an international bunch. Works for me.

Maybe "I" for "Information".

Wireworking Information Repository and Exchange

Of course, with that suggestion, I'll also say that I was also just trying to be a little silly in the thread that I initially made those suggestions, but it is kind of nice to know that there was at least a seed of usefulness there.

AHA!

That, might do it.

When you insert Information there, it makes it sound like "Information Repository" is paired as a concept, (as opposed to Wireworking, Information, Repository, and Exchange).. so it doesn't sound like you're a repository for wire anymore.

"Education" might be another synonym for option for the E, though it doesn't really roll off the tongue very well.

"Internet" might work Razz Wireworking Internet Repository and Education? Ugg, that sound awful.

Haha! This is actually turning out to be entertaining... I like most of the suggestions except the internet education one (no offense but it needs to roll off the tongue)...

Didn't I see somewhere that it was going to be W.A.I.L., rather than W.I.R.E.? I can't remember what WAIL stood for, but I remember liking it. Can anyone help me out with what WAIL stood for?

if i remember correctly it stood for wire artisans international league, like mail. personally i think WIRE sounds better and is more fitting as a sister site to MAIL.

Agreed. WAIL sounded creepy. WIRE seems to give it away more, just like MAIL. Smile Right now I guess we're figuring out a new meaning for the letters...

So it seems like it's between:

Wireworking International Repository and Exchange

- and -

Wireworking Information Repository and Exchange

Or is someone still working on something new?
