Well, if it was done out of a reasonable link size, I might think to pitch in a bit, though I don't do any work in galvy. It would likely be plain bright-steel, .063 (16ga), if I added any sections to it. That, and I shudder to think of the shipping costs to send a chunk of chain to the US right now.

I was wondering if ya'll were actually doing this yet? I'd be willing to send in a sizable chunk. If you decide on weave/gauge/ID let me know and I'll get started. Very Happy

yeah i think so too, im thinking most all of us have a 5/16 mandrel and some sort of 16 ga wire, so now if we can all agree on a weave we're in business! Very Happy

Count me in, but I do have a thought on the matter. I think we should take a page out of the quilt project, and let people send in whatever kind of chain they want. Whoever the end recipient of the segments could stich 'em all together in whatever manner. It'd be more interesting to look at that way, and anyone could participate, even if they only made 1 in 1.

Hey, if ya'll wanna make it and send it to me, I'll put it together Smile I've got enough time on my hands I could make a hauberk out of it...

....

*wanders off wondering how to stretch time into wire and make maille out of it...*
any ideas?

One weave is best

I think we should all submit a piece of the same weave type, Guiness people are verry picky about records and rules. Also, we should make the weave something that allows for maximum length with minimum rings, that would allow us to make a longer chain faster.

Well, just an idea.

Anyone who is going to partake in this should also give their location so we can find someone centralized among us to keep shipping costs to an overall minimum.

I don't know; if we try for the longest chain with the fewest links, a'll we're going to end up with is a really long 1 in 1 chain .. even if we didn't qualify for the guinness book, at least if we gave people some freedom the result would be more interesting
