What if we tried to make the world's longest maille chain? We could have anyone who wants to send in a piece of chain in whatever length they choose. It would probably be easiest to have everyone make one type of chain, like boxchain or something, with the same ga. and ID.

Seems to me that if we were actually able to get into the Guiness Book of Records that it would greatly boost the popularity of M.A.I.L. And as a bonus, everyone who contributed could have their names in the book. With added traffic, it might even be possible to put ads on the site to generate some monthly income.

My suggestion is that you make this a chain of a pattern that a machine can't make that easilly. A ordinary 2-1 chain isn't that much fun as if you made a Full Persian for example.

it would have to be "the worlds longest Handmade chain", because machines can pump out around a mile of chain an hour depending on how big the links are and what the material is( my dad used to work at a factory that made the stuff when i was about five, i was talking to him yesterday about this though)

I think that the world's longest chain would just about the coolest thing in the world. Next to food, that is. Very Happy If you want to go ahead and do it, I'll make a chain for it.

It was decided very early that M.A.I.L. would remain ad-free.

Tell a mailler what ring sizes to use and they'll weave for a day. Teach them AR and they'll weave forever.

Though i AM new at this, i'd love to assist, it'd give me something to do and give me a goal.

There is a chance that i can't weave what is suggested though... i have no idea how to do a persian yet. i'm NOT tackling anything of that magnitude yet... heh... *blush*
