Chainmaille Human Sculpture.

Recently I've had a number of people refer to some different weaves as "similar to some aspects of human physiology"... And got to thinking... Would it be possible to make a maille human? Probably not actual size, but with weaves stiff or loose enough to "function" similar to normal body parts?

Just a crazy thought...

P.S. The weaves referred to were very tight FP 6-1 (Spine) and two units of magus staff (knee joint)

Are you proposing I make a maille woman? Could be a first for all humanity... lol.

I'd probably need -your- help most though, kim.... as far as I know, you and David_Austin are the most sculpture-knowledgeable people out there... And we don't see 'ol DA much anymore....

But yeah.... any advice, suggestions, etc? Everyone will get a cut (I.E. Money)

i've made a couple women, but not nearly as articulated as you intend.

my suggestion is to pick a weave, amd make that weave in as ARs as possible to find the right combination.

this will not be an easy task. but, once you're finished you'll be a much better mailler. that's what challenges are for.

i'm not going to make your decisions for you, but i'll help guide you on the path i would take to find the knowledge.

and... i'm leaving sunday morning, so get it in while you can. Smile

I'm thinking like.... maybe a foot tall? No rings larger than 1/2"....?
Just a crazy idea for now, but input would be great. Smile

I think you should make an anatomical diagram of a full size human...

DELTA PROJECT!

Everyone submit a major organ or bone! The sculpture would have no skin, but have bones of large CIR and HP3-1 sheet 6 muscles. Construct organs with various 3d weaves! Wow that would be insane.

I can see it now.... making a pair of bags out of hp3-1s6, then inflate deflate for lungs.... lol.

Wow.... this could be -really- cool....

Any kinesiologists in the house?

as much as that -sounds- like a good idea, sculpture is best done by a single person with a single vision.

once upon a time i thought lots of people could contribute to a large sculpture.. and, i suppose, in the right circumstances they could, but this is a little too specific to work, imo..

but, by all means, prove me wrong.

slash, if you make something a foot tall, and have it work out right, i will be doubly impressed! i say go for it.

Alas, mine knowledge of maille has not quite reached the apex of functionality required for a foot tall sculpture...

I'll have to put it on the back burner for now, but one day.... lol.
I -do- have a new idea, though... see other post in Group projects.

Oddly enough, the idea in the last post is most appealing...
