Be nice if images could be submitted as other than gif or jpg. I'm guessing the software used to generate preview images might be a factor.

I'm not at all certain of what is used on the MAIL site, but I've heard PHP tossed around several times. The following link contains another link for a library to handle .png in a php environment.

I ended up submitting a jpg, which appears to have worked. What software did you use to create the jpgs which don't work?

Sorry folks, the thumbnailing package we use only supports .gif and .jpg images. It's all in PERL, by the way, AA.

If anyone is still receiving an error with either jpg or gif images, please contact me via PM, and I'll try to figure it out. I just submitted one of each as a test, and I don't see any issues...

Same software I use. Paint makes the extension upper case when you save as. I've gotten into the habbit of manually making it lower case to avoid hastles later. Taking a quick look at the javascript that checks image file type, it is case sensitive.

Not everyone has Photoshop, tho. :> Though there are several free programs that will do it too.

.PNG files have some qualities that are better than .JPGs. Having the system be able to accept them would be good. It's something that would be best to add to the To Do list for the revamping of the board, should that happen anytime soon.
