They're bA-ack... Now they're gO-one. Again.
There are a bunch more posts in there that look worthless to my eye but not clearly against policy. Mostly id10t's posting gibrish. (Not the foregen language ones - clearly nonsence posts.) I'm torn on spending the time to broom them or just ignore them and hope they go away. Looking for other's opinions.

Mical just reminded me of the massive spam overload in the guest book. I started another spamectomy a couple of weeks ago, but quit when it seemed like it was filling in faster than I could get rid of it. I meant to mention it but got side tracked. (If my boss would just stop dumping work on my desk, maybe I could get something done! I have this neat idea for a vest?) I have no idea how to shut off the flow to get rid of what has already accumulated. It?s so bad right now that I think we should ? at least temporarily ? lock the guest book for a while. At least until the current flood can be mopped up.
Ideas? Thoughts? Suggestions?

or.. if this is having to be done regularly, maybe lock it for good?
it's another thing to maintain that ads little real content.

| I'm with Kim. *sigh* Pull the plug. Or, trim one last time, then close it off as a nostalgia piece. |

iORG101 told me about the ridiculous amount of spam that's around again. i just tried to take a crack at this.. it eventually told me it had logged my IP in case i was doing something maliscious, and then i couldn't delete anymore..i'll try again tomorrow..

Well, it has been suggested the the guest book be locked at least untill the curent flood gets moped up. Me thinks perhaps 'tis time.
Don't you just love how so small a number of people can ruin it for everyone?

| OMG, I never look at that thing but had a spare moment last night and thought I'd help out by deleting some stuff and I got the same error as Kim after my first attemp at deleting an entry. Bleh. |

an easy fix would be to replace guest.htm with a simple message that said, "removed because of spam abuse"..
little effort..
and i wouldn't mind something like that being up until the new system went online.

Hey guys, just checking in. I went into the database, and scragged over 3000 spams in the guestbook. I don't know if the flood is over yet, but that should hold us for now...
