I decided to remove this article when I was made aware of the potential dangers involved.

This is where I got my information:

Why not just fix the article? What is that, 2 sentences?

I agree. Do you still have it somewhere where it could just be fixed and reposted?

I still have it, but I would need concrete evidence that colouring copper with these chemicals is SAFE before putting it back up.

I don't want the safety of anyone seeing the information on this site to be in danger. It was an ethical decision.

Wouldn't it be enough to post a warning stating something like:

'Warning: coloring copper with the following chemicals can be hazardous. Please be careful, and take all appropriate precautions.'

I think it'd be a shame to remove any information which could potentially be dangerous; after all, even coiling you own rings can cause a fair amount of injury.

And cutting, and closing, and playing with flails resulting from it all Smile

I do think that it might have been a bit.. abrupt for me to have removed it with such haste.

But I just thought of the possibility of someone actually having tried this. Some people are very impressionable. What would happen if someone had a small explosion because of mixing these chemicals?

This gives me a lot to think about as a moderator.

Well, I suppose that means you've got more morals than some of the site administrators out there; after all, it still doesn't take much to find a downloadable copy of the terrorists handbook, or the jolly roger's cookbook .. and they've got significantly more dangerous contents.

I think as long as there were a suitably serious warning at the beginning of the article, there shouldn't be an issue.

a warning would be a great idea. or even in the title of the article, give a hint that there are explosive contents within (well, not within, but plausable) the article. or if we get enough explosive articles, we could even develop a symbol that signifies that the article has dangerous practices within it. another example of this would be an article on using a dremel tool to cut rings. not that it's too serious, but some people dont realize the problems of cutting galvy with a dremel.
