I beg to differ. Eric Idle (I think that's the actor...) well, the guy who plays Arthur actually does wear a real maille coif.. I can't remember about his hauberk, but I KNOW his coif was real.

EDIT: I have since been corrected. It was Graham Chapman who played Arthur.

your right, coif is real but the hauberk was not. in one of the commentaries the actor for king auther said that he could only were the coif for like 2 hours before needing a rest without it.

To tell you the truth I really did not consider it, but now on second thought, I thought that the histortic detail in 13th Warrior, Lord of the Rings, and King Authur, were all relatively good.

Are you serious? Is this guy weak or something? Really, I've worn coif + haubergeon to school a few times, thats 6+ hours, and I didn't get tired at all.

yeah, i wore a stainless steel coif for several hours at the faire and the only thing i had to do was crack my neck 2 times. aurther must have some neck or back problems or something. but you have to remember he was just an actor and not an armor/warrior person who wears it all the time.

True, just an actor, even tho I make the armor I don't wear it everyday so its not like I'm used to it or something. Probably same with most mailllers. Dont hear them complaining about wearing a coif.

Imagine if all those guys wore actual full maille suits. What would they have to say then Coif LoL ? Especially those dudes doing the dance at Camelot.

Unfortunately 'so called Aurther King' was very sick at the time with the effects of long term alchoholism. He died from it not all that long after, according to a book about all things Python that I picked up a while back, though i don't have the time line right here to look it up. Crying (very sad)

The newer crusades movie, I forget the name, has it been released on dvd yet? More comedy, robin hood men in tights?(can't remember any chain in there? Plate , but chain?)
And the Robin hood movies, I believe the one made in the 60's
robin dies after a all out hack and slash, including a fatal 1/4 body
cut into robins side(just below the ribs)I think that was robin hood.
He shot an arrow out the window before he died. Crying (very sad)
