The Announcement on the main page...

... seems a bit out of place, don't you think? It really isn't an organizational announcement of any kind, and it seems a bit condescending, as well... Or is that just me?

Who put it up?

It seemed very condescending.
it worried me that something major was happening on the board.

Seeing the thumbs up made me laugh after reading the message. Coif LoL

Heh, I figured one of our editors saw one typo too many.

I thought the funny part was that this morning I had to correct the spelling of 'gague' on one line, hehe Very Happy

Yes, I was also concerned that "mis-spelt" is misspelt...

Ok, I'm actually here. Yeah I didn't like that post at all either. It's not news, it doesn't belong there. I don't know who posted it. I know superadmins can remove it though.

i guess i didn't really see a problem with it when i read it.. but i do see where you are all coming from.. i'm a little curious as to that announcement, myself.. i think admins who've never used a feature like that should feel obliged to ask if their proposed usage is appropriate.

It seemed rather odd to me as well. I took Miss Spell (who?s she?) being misspelled as having been done deliberately to make the point of the rest of that line.

Any idea whodunit? Confused All I can say fer sure is 'twern't me.

So we still dont know who put it up?

It does seem ironic that part of i was mispelled.
I must say the mispelling around the board and in submissions is a bit anyonning.

Sorry about the long time to reply. I put it up.
I'm sorry, I probably should have asked about whether it was appropriate or not. You know how you do something in the heat of the moment, and it seems like a good idea at the time..... *blush*

If someone wants to edit or remove it, that's fine.

On the note of super-admins, I used to have that as a yes, (and could edit/remove headlines etc) but that's been removed. Wondering why?

Raz.
EDIT: On the note of the 'gague' typo, read my sig :p

I didn't pull your "super" access Raz, and no one told me they were doing so. Let me check on it...

folks are going to miss spell things.. and as much as it's a peeve for you, it is their choice to spell things how they wish, until it passes by you in a submission. Smile

i'd rather have a membership than immaculate spelling & grammar.

Point taken Kim.

Thanks for fixing my 'super' access Blaise, I've now edited the announcement to remove the condescending tone. However, I still think that the post is valid as an announcement. I'm thinking of doing ones for
Gauge (done)
Inner Diameter, including Aspect Ratio (mostly links to some very well written articles about AR)
The reason why I put them up is to help make things a bit more findable, particularly for newbies, seeing as the site header redesign isn't moving much at the moment.

Maybe they could replace each other each time, so the overall list doesn't grow...
