Idea for streamlining Gallery Submissions edits

I'm finding myself a bit overwhelmed with PM'ing each person when they haven't provided enough details, and I'm also inclined to think that some people don't even know how to, or else, don't bother to check their PM inbox.

I'm thinking that maybe if I create a kind of locked Bulletin Board thread in the Gallery Forum, and have all the things I want from individuals up there, and they then PM me their details from a link within the thread. I'd edit the bulletin board once I've received details, so that only the outstanding ones are up.

For example:
========================================
GALLERY SUBMISSIONS DETAILS REQUESTS:

17th March, 2004
BlahdiBlah - Jap 4-1 cube
Needs:
Wire gauge
Metal used

16th March, 2004
Floopfrongle - Euro copper anklet
Needs:
Ring ID
Wire gauge

<a href="http://www.mailleartisans.org/board/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=626">PM Raz with your details</a>

===============================
(I've got HTML enabled - not sure why that's not working, maybe it's because I'm editing a previous post)

What do you guys think?

I am aware that this could lead to some disgruntled or embarrased persons, but in some ways, if they are finding themselves frequently up there, then perhaps they'll learn to include more details for the future :p

*bump*

I posted this so I could get some feedback, and to not go ahead and do something without checking first - did anyone even read it?

Go for it! If it is embarrassing, then hopefully they'll only do it once.

The last-last resort might be to email the people. It's possible if they're not checking their PMs, they're not even looking at the boards.

One possibility, then, may be to get a "Send email" option added to the list of things in a submission request (along with 'approve', 'delete', etc). It's faster than either PMing or posting and is more direct to the member.

How does that sound?

Great! More Work! Thanks, D-man! Wink

Seriously, I think the thread is a good idea. The mail link can be done too. I'm also considering the possibility that we could add a couple of fields to the submission that would prompt them to enter the info. That would mean altering the database, though, so I'm having a good, hard think before I do it...

I've had the idea for multiple details boxes with all the pertinent ones represented, and another one for miscellaneous details.

Do what you can, and I'll love ya for it!

Raz.
