Just a heads up for the fundraising stuff, there are approximately six months left before the webhosting company will want some money. Surprised So how is fundraising going? Who's in charge? And most importantly how are we going to squeeze $120 out of our members before June?! Confused

I thought it was July! Didn't we go for the 13 month deal last year?

Anyway, I think we need a donation drive. Cafepress and all the other ideas have gone by the wayside. I think it's time to just beg our members.

Jon, are you out there? do we have anything on account anywhere, or are we still negative???

Perhaps asking for a donation of something neat, useful or unique for auction.

A couple of years ago the fist OH gath. did a Pooh bear in maille as a group project, then auctioned him off for a 'support the board' thing. maybe something like that would be in order?

Or someone would like to donate some wire, rings, tools, etc. for auction.

Just a thought.

..Or a raffle? Come up with something nifty to raffle off and sell tickets. I'm sure there's folks here that could donate something cool. I'd be willing to pitch in something like rings, wire, or something made.

...just another suggestion. Razz

i have a horn shaker wrapped in maille i could put to auction. but i have no picture of it.. either i could describe it.. or get it to someone who can get a picture of it and woulnd't mind paying shipping to send it to the auction winner.

i'd pay shipping once.
i think that a 30-40$ donation is a reasonable starting bid for this thing.

Lately I've been making a good number of bracelets out of black anodized aluminum and gold plated copper wire, selling them for 35-40 dollars, once I get a good number sold, I'd be willing to make a few for the kommonwealth... and no, I am not kommunist... -shiftey eyes-... But beside that, Ideas... -ponders-... well, I'd go for the raffle thing... like, buy some sterling, or something... and raffle it off... such as: buy a pound of 18 gauge sterling (something any jewellery artisan can use) and action it off by the quarter pound, that's what? 25 dollars worth of material, and sell raffle tickets for 5 bucks, I'm sure you'd get 100 people to join in the raffle... that's 350 dollar profit, four people extremely happy, and 96 people can sleep at night (because they don't have any sterling to make chainmaille out of, of course) everyone's happy... -shrug-

8x12=96$

expect to pay a decent chunk of money for a pound of sterling.

i like the idea of auction.. 1 item. 1 person paying.

we couldn't get 100 people to vote when we had the adult area issue come up.. prying 5$ out of 100 peoples pockets would be like pulling teeth.

I was just thinking, this may not be like a "get fast money soon" idea, but maybe some members' personal maille sites could give a portion of their profits to MAIL. I know if and when I get my own set up, if it's successful, I might give maybe $2-10 per sale to MAIL. It would be a good way to thank the site for making our skills possible.
