https://www.victornet.com/searchresults.html?q=drill+rod

if you look under the number and letter size rods, there are more sizes available than what's under metric.

Thanks for the link. They don't have half metric sizes but this gets me half way there. Appreciate it!

mcmaster-carr doesn't have the half metric sizes at 3 foot lengths either (they have them at 1-3 inch sections).

If you haven't checked it out, this website also has a "supplier" list, found here. There are tons, and most don't have mandrels/rods... but could find a gem in there.

TRL has 18 inch mm mandrels down to quarter mm sizes.

thanks for the info. I just bought a Ringanator ring cutting tool and want to take advantage of the bulk cutting capability. So I'm looking for 3 foot mandrels.

I may just have to switch all my teaching instructions to inch sizes for all the weaves. That's a big commitment, though. Sad

my recommendation would be to get many of the letter/number size mandrels and then just measure them in metric. keep the metric sizing in your instructions. the actual id is never going to work out to be a nice whole number anyways.

Here is a place that you can get what ever size mandrel you would like.

Charlie's Chaincraft

He is actually a member here at MAIL and has helped me out with a great deal of things in the past. They may not initially be in the measurement you want, but he has a chart that shows all the popular measurements so you can find what you want.

Last time I talked to him he said that he could make them any length that you needed. That was a while ago so things might have changed, but you could always contact him and ask.
