Hi, I'm a new member, but have been stalking you all for about a year. Introductions aside, I need advice. I'm making a 4-1 skirt. I'm I need advice on how to go about making it. Would a ring of 4-1 what fits around my waist, that expands as it goes down be sufficient, or is there a better way? Thanks!

That's what I would do. Be mindful of the aspect ratio you choose as well, as this will affect the amount the fabric stretches horizontally. AR of 4 is usually a good choice but higher numbers will give more stretch.

Remember that this AR is a balancing act, as higher values will also allow (relatively) larger objects to pass through the sheet, or similarly sized objects to pass through with less hindrance.

Either an array of expansion links throughout the fabric, or insertion of triangular expansion zones -- three or four of these, distributed according to your taste.

In armouring contexts, this mail skirt is known as a fauld.

Is this a fashion piece or an armor piece?
