I've got Two question:

1: Where can I find the statutes for the submission awards?

2: Why have I earned awards?

Are you referring to forum badges?
1. They started in late 2013. Brief search can't find the thread where they were announced.

2. Hover over them. They have a short description of why they're there.

1. Thats why I asked. Razz

2. "Weave submitter" "copper gallery Item submitter" is not the answer I was looking for. I'd like to know more specifically. Razz

The copper is like 1-49, silver 50-99, and gold is 100+ or something like that. I'm sure I got the numbers wrong. *Pokes lorraine to answer*

Only DL knows the number of submissions required to move up to a higher badge. He wants people to find out for themselves by submitting as much as they can, to see when they earn a new badge. He's diabolical like that. Razz

This.

Well, sort-of this...

The goal is actually to prevent people from "aiming" for a badge... Rather, just submit as you come up with things, and let the awards come "naturally"...

Create a ladder system and people WILL climb it. It is human nature to be lightly competitive, it's a survival trait.

Personally I can see why it's there and it is always nice to be rewarded but after 17 years of link on link and people looking at me like I'm insane on trains as I prep links; little badges under my name (although nice and I will graciously accept them) are not my first concern. Smile

Still would like to win one competition. For fun. Very Happy

I disagree with Badges for such things as holiday attendance.

You'll find that one already exists for the 2012 season.

These badges are harmless, and my way of adding a little bit of "fun" to the forums. Smile

In the case of the 2012 badge, I issued that one manually (in January 2013, I believe) to anyone with a "last login" UNIX Stamp from the past month or so.

In general, none of these badges need exists (or indeed, aside from contest shields thanks to Kithplana) existed at all.
In fact, I sort of had to re-code a section of phpBB to include them under the user profile. (Hell... I re-wrote the user profile section.... For many reasons...)

While I Love your work, the reason I felt like Stating My position is that I believe that the "holiday" tag is giving a false sense of activity.
