I am aware there are those that will view this as not conforming to the contest rules, and will wish to see it invalidated by the contest organizer.
I had fun with the project either way!

Ask me about custom engraving.

People either will or won't vote for it. Smile

i was really just curious about whether if not you made it Smile (looks kinda hand made to me and the 1/3rd can be anything bought borrowed or steel) (really a factory probly would make a pen like that in 1/3rd the time it took you to augment it so you have no contest here. guess i'll have to work my wording so as not to be easily miss interpreted Smile

-Puts on Shakespearian hat-

If the mette sent, proves falsehood.
Then by the eye shall this be discovered.
Should the eye seem unfit then by action; may still this folly in part be remedied.
If art lay unproven. Then who better to call it to rise?

Take up your hammer and strike upon the anvil your disdain.
For better works lie undone but for the meekness of man.

The Tiffin Masters Tea Dueling Chain of office

Ladies and Gentlemen!

It has been brought to my attention that I may indeed need to start putting my "money where my mouth is" in relation to this site. Now I can be theatrical and maybe kind of rough but one thing I am not.... is a metal mickey. So with out further ado may I present;

"The Tiffin Masters Tea Dueling Chain of office with supporting photographic and literary evidence of Steampunkery"

What is a Tea Duel? There is no time! All the information you need (including rules) can be read here:

http://teaduel.yolasite.com/

In said rules under Article 2.2 it clearly states that the duel shall be umpired by the "Tiffin Master"

So to distinguish the "Tiffin Master" from the other flotsam and jetsam scattered around the place, a chain of office was required...

Notice the teapot and cross spoons and the cups all rendered in stainless steel mostly 4.7mm ID although there are a couple of bits of 6mm in there too.

I know what your thinking. Is this the mad ramblings of some deranged madman? No sir! Tea dueling is a very serious business here we see a match taking place at last weekends Brighton Costume games....

But don't just take my word for it, dear me no. Look on twitter or facebook. The Tiffin Master in question was in quite the mood to display this humble makers bling.

So there you have it a piece of maille actually used at a Steampunk event. But the competition is still young and although I might have the practicality,
I maybe remiss in relation to "The Look". I will let you, my most honorable artists and friends be the best judge of that.

Where did you get those wonderful clock hands?
Your bloody clever aren't you? A lattice like link supporting structure securing the more interesting elements. Impressive, adaptable and useful.

Why thank you. I think reform may have me picked when it comes to sheer inventiveness however. Doesn't really matter I'm doing this for the fun. I get my game face on at events where there is money to be made.

Still the kudos from fellow makers is always welcome. Hang on, you made that Stainless & Copper Orbit Bracelet didn't you? I have made copper captured work in the past but there is a closeness and an eye for detail to your work that I find difficult to replicate.

It is inspiring work sir. Thank you for posting it.

Well, thank you right back!

Yes, there is no real substitute for recognition by your peers, is there?

That's what these contests are really all about, I think. Very Happy

Me too. The contests keep me going when my motivation is zilch.

To answer your earlier question, I found the clock hands and "gears" at the craft store Michael's. They were in the jewelry section with other accessory-type doo-dads. They were basically in a small "Steampunk" display and got them in order to "put some gears on it" Coif LoL
