Cortosis vs Alligator River

I've had both Cortosis and Alligator River in my favorites for a long time but haven't given them both much thought.

I managed to make a bracelet out of Alligator River for my mom for her b-day. However, when I wanted to make a Cortosis sheet thing I couldn't quite figure out what the instruction meant.

Although now when I look back on both descriptions they kind of seem rather similar. Half Persian 3 in 1, with alternating directions, tied up by having a European 4 in 1 connection between. I think they actually are the same weave, just going by different names. Since the creator of Cortosis is long gone we can't ask him what really was meant, and the image doesn't really show very much detail.

Do you all have any experience with both weaves? If so, could you tell me if this is something that I've just imagined inside my head, or if it actually is the same. I'd like to get down with this mystic weave.

I haven't made either of those weaves, so I'm not much help. Rolling Eyes

They do look different in the pictures though...

i did some hard looking into the pic for cortosis. it looks like it starts with hp3 chain and then has a e4 connection. then, the next connection is hp3, but it connects to the second row of the first hp3 instead of the e4. this second hp3 connection weaves opposite hand from the first hp3. it looks like it would fit well into my "crossover series" since it follows the same rules - rings on the edges connect farther into the sheet not just the last row weaved.
