Okay, I figured out how to get the url of a Flickr picture so you can post it here with BBCode. If anyone else has problems, let me know. Smile

This is a picture of two European 12 in 1 samples. Each one is made of .063" (~16SWG / 1.6mm) stainless steel.

The first sample is at an AR of 8.7 (31/64" MD, .547" ID); the second an AR of 8.3 (15/32" MD, .523" ID), which is as tight as this weave is going to get. I updated the weave entry to reflect this.

One of the guys at work asked to replace the skirt on his bobble hula-girl for his truck.

The belt is made of Spiral Cage x3 (a weave I submitted a couple weeks ago, awaiting approval.)
Made of orange and green AA 18ga 3/16" from TRL (This weave is made of a central column of parallel rings with 3 sets of rings attached around the column. (This is a modification of Spiral Cage) This gives 3 different directions for other rings to attach. Two were used for the slip and for the grass. The third was left going upward for the top of her belt.)

Her slip attached to the inside layer of the belt is Disturbed Trinity made of brown AA 18ga 3/16" and AA 19ga 5/32" (This was necessary because otherwise her bobble spring was visible.)

The grass was made of Barrel Twists made of Yellow and Orange 18ga 3/16" AA

Just a question.

Is there a problem if we submit a piece made from a weave somebody already submitted during this contest?

As I understand the rules: Provided the current weave entry as shown in the library has no gallery pictures showing, you're good to go.

My entry: a Hufflepuff necklace.

Materials and construction:

  • Band: Sunrise, brass links (gold, black) ID=5.6mm OD=8mm WD=1.2mm AR=4.67
  • Centre triangle: B^3, brass links (gold, black) ID=5.6mm OD=8mm WD=1.2mm AR=4.67
  • Pendant: Brass filigree squares, bent into a flower shape, gold filigree bead, large bee charm
  • Dangles: Each dangle comprises two small flowers and one large flower. The small flowers comprise a gold filigree brass flower and a gold bead on a headpin. The large flowers comprise a tiny bee charm on an eyepin, which itself has a gunmetal-black bead, a gold filigree flower, and a bronze filigree circle bent into a flower shape.

Symbolism:

  • Colours are black and yellow (gold), the colours of Hufflepuff.
  • Bees symbolize Hufflepuff for two reasons: they are hard workers, and they are also black and yellow.
  • Yellow flowers represent friendship, another quality of Hufflepuff. And of course flowers go with bees!

Craft isn't cheaper than therapy, but it's more fun.
