I really like that one you did there TrenchCoatGuy. Totally different from what Dravin did, but really nice. What would be nice is if the black background wasn't a perminant color. I am sure that you did it just for the example, but if I wanted to put it on a pink shirt there wouldn't be a black box than. If that makes sense.
really nice job everybody.

Makes complete sense, which is why that is already done.
Of course I didn't show my raw file, but it is a transparent png.
Adding pink is simply adding any background to it. I did just tack on the black as a better presentation of it.
Well really, tons of things can still be edited... such as something like this.
*edit: If someone wishes to download my raw render... it can be found here

that is what I thought, but had to state it out loud just in case it wasn't that way.
I still like some of the things that Draven did as well. Now I am torn!

I liked the render idea, so here's my take on it, with a few color combinations. I did the inlay thing in photoshop and have the layer masks saved, so I can easily change colors and stuff.
clicky for embiggenment (2000x1000 px, for the back of a shirt or something)
NOTE: These are no longer entries from me, see the post later in the thread with the updated version. I'll leave them here though to demonstrate a few of the many color options.

We've got around a week and a half left for the date I originally set, and have entries from 4 people. In my head I was really hoping for 5 or more people before going to voting, so if anyone has an idea, please don't hesitate to post it! Even if it's just an idea and you can't get the look you want, you may be able to find someone to help you with it.
Don't worry, I will have voting for individual entries and not just "one from user_name", in case my first sentence here made it sound like that - any complete entry will be voted on unless the creator edits their original post to specifically say not to include it.

I wasn't quite happy with those images I posted on Monday, so here's an updated version that's not quite so "perfect CG" looking, and replaces the earlier entries for me. I've updated my code to now be able to render the full image in one go, no more fussing in photoshop, so color changes or inlay pattern changes are very easy if someone has a suggestion. I think this by itself would be good for something like a mug, but for a shirt I'd put some text underneath it with the acronym spelled out and the website.
On that note, for anyone else doing povray stuff and wants to try it out themselves, I now have a Euro n-in-1 macro that can make a two-color inlay from a picture, with randomly missing rings and a bit of jitter in ring placement. Just send me a PM and I'll give you a link.
As before, clicking brings up the full size png with transparency, but the thumbnail was going to be a ridiculous filesize if I didn't make it jpeg here.

Ooh! I like this one CShake. It looks like it's been wadded up in a box for awhile and then someone said, "What's this then?", unwrinkled it and hung it up.

ya that inlay style in general is cool.
can someone whip one of these off in a good CGI? I'm messing with Paint but you can imagine how that's going.
I thought it would make a nice decorative with Maille Artisans......... under.

With and without shadows. There should be a "download" button on the page.

| Nice! I feel like a bit of a doof playing with the paint program like a hack for 3 hours. You sure added that pro look to the idea. I know I'm just asking everyone else to do the work here (much appreciated btw) but wouldn't that graphic look great with the font from the sites header under it? |
