I hope to start getting information out to people by the end of December as this should give at least a month for people to sign up and than we can just sneak in late comers after that. | Rognvald wrote: | | Thanks for doing this again, MM, hope I can be of some help. |

I'll try
Kinda short on funds right now, just got my apt rented out again, though, so I should be good to go again in 2012. Looking forward to both sending out pieces and receiving new pieces which will help to both teach and inspire me! |

We now have 5 countries represented! I love these cross border exchanges.

Agreed, MM, it does make it more exciting to see chainmaille crossing borders.
It is easy enough to mail to another country, as the package must already be carefully wrapped, and in most cases a visit to the post office is in order anyway, to have the package weighed and postage affixed; the additional amount of postage is usually nominal. |

Hey welcome. Another country on the list.
And btw: I took part in Birthday Clubs and Secret Santas during the last couple of years, had always out-of-country receivers (and senders to me) - and had no problems I could remember yet with my gifts not arriving or being much overdue due to customs access. Just add the CN22 (custom declaration) sticker on the package, check 'Gift' there when filling out the form, chose a customs value mirroring the material's worth (don't exceed maybe 20US$ or so but stay honest), and all will be well.

Human societies are like chain mail.
A single link will be worth nothing.
A chain is of use, but will break at the weakest link.
A weak weave will have the need to replace weak links.
A strong weave will survive even with weak links included.

I sent one to Europe this year and didn't have much trouble. Generally for gifts I put the value of the material down as the customs value. I figure my time in making it counts as the "gift" part. |
