lorraine - how did you bend the coiled wire into a clasp without marring the wire? The only thing I can think of is you wrapped it in something or used your 'maille magic' on it. I keep on marring up the wire. (and yes, I know I am a brute and have to ease up a little.)

Heh, the first couple of clasps of mine did turn out less than pretty...
I clamp a mandrel down on my desk so that it hangs over the side, pointed directly at me. I also leave enough of the straightened 16g wire exposed on each side of the coil that I can get a good grip on them with pliers. I place the middle of the coil against the mandrel and with each end held firmly with a pair of pliers, start gently bending, only applying just enough pressure to make the loop around the mandrel. It takes some practice, but it can be done (you brute Very Happy ). Let me know if this doesn't make sense, or if you need pics. Maybe I will make a tut...

BOO YA! WHO GUESSED IT!

can it be a unit weave in the shape of a cookie?

... made of 24k gold? Razz

cause i guna get into casting (as such i save all my wire tails and scraps) and that 24k gold cookie could be melted and cut into, say, 10k gold (like the wire sold on TRL) and thus i'd have more of it, and could cast 10k gold rings and pendants... or wire... either or Razz

Thank you Lorraine I knew it had to be something simple, but not necessarily easy, because you always come up with the 'best methods' to do things. Can't wait to try it out. Now I just need to finish that piece I am working on.

Beautiful weaves! Is there a tutorial for ZiLi'a 'Something'? I'd like to give it a try, and I'm pretty rusty, I'm not sure if I can look and learn just yet.

There's no tutorial for 'Something' yet, but basically it's a GSG-style woven HP3in1Sheet6 using high-AR rings (AR above six works), and then adding in additional rings in the only space where they fit. Maybe that image helps - and I may give you a tip: If making a wider strip, find the right moment to fill in these rings at the right moment when weaving, as setting them in center rows, without marring, is near to impossible:

And that works for HP3S6 with different sheet widths.

A single link will be worth nothing.
A chain is of use, but will break at the weakest link.
A weak weave will have the need to replace weak links.
A strong weave will survive even with weak links included.

What I made is the one in the middle of the second picture Zili posted above. I used his tutorial Starting GSG-Style Half Persian 3-1 Sheet 6 - The Easy Way. And Zili's suggestion of putting the added rings in as you go, rather than after you have woven the GSG will save you tons of frustration. It's damn near impossible to get those suckers in afterwards. Very Happy

A pic of where the added rings are in the GSG-Style HP3-1 Sheet 6.

I have a decent supply of Rings with an AR of about 6.5, so i'm going to have to give this a try very soon.
I was sidetracked by the barrel chain, I'm using these same 6.5 rings, and I've got a kind of 'Kings Double-barrel' thing going here... We'll see how that goes! lol.
Thanks for the advice, I think I can work it out from that.
