I think I am doing this correctly. Will someone let me know?

If you include me into the category 'someone', I will do:
It looks perfectly executed for me - if it was your intention to make a tricolor spiraled JPL5 - I don't see any fault.

That's exactly what I was going for Zili! Thank you. And of course you are in the category of "someone". Someone special! Thanks again.

I like it, it's catching....mixed metals really becomes you Lorraine....and Talia's....please post a pic of the EC when it gets going.

AAAll right, now that we've got the JPL juices flowing, it's the best time to give JPL7 a whack....I knows you can do it, and you'll REALLY get that kick in the butt neat feeling IdiditcoolIdidit ...and it's just that much sweeter than JPL5.

I'd try and explain how to do a conversion from 5, but it's just too confusing, I haven't been able to come up with anything comprehend-able....best way to do it is from one of the pics, like in Zlosk's JPL family picture.

A tip for working on getting 7, use a contrasting colored ring for odd or even rings inserted, to kind help keep track...unless you've got 7 EC colors, and again, I do have kits for it in EC, 7 colors, or 5 for JPL5 if anyone is interested....I sooo like getting JPL out there.

Just for fun, I was playing with photobucket's new feature's....anyone mess around with these yet? Here's a cartoon edit....

That's kinda fun, and there's a bunch of different tools.

Lorraine - Image widths 800 pixels max please. More than that they won't stuff into a 1024x768 monitor.

I should probably petition that to be in the forum guidelines.

Hmm, wonder how hard it'll be to do JPL 13. May have to give that a try.

Okay, here's a little sample of the EC:

The pattern I used for adding rings, if anyone is interested, is:
ABABB
BCBCC
CDCEE
EFEFF
FAFAA
and then repeats. This can be adjusted to any number of two or more colors, like if you're doing three colors, then it's ABABB, BCBCC, CACAA, repeat. I like it. It's kinna like little arrowheads, ar a flame pattern I used to make friendship bracelets back in the day.

Well, I'm outta here. Off to Vegas for a week. Yay! I think I'm excited, because I've had to watch the speed limit driving all morning. Smile

And Kodiak- your EC are a joy to work with! Much nicer than the quality of wire I have available locally.

Nice...slippery little buggers though, huh?

I like the pattern, and it would be even more noticeable/prominent in *whispers*JPL9

me too - the JPL7 is a HARD nut to crack - I begin to believe that even my JPL5 success was only somewhat 'accidentally'... But the challenge remains.

I've found colored rings is the only way to effectively teach the JPL family, even the base JPL learns quickly using 3 colors. Even if you have to use felt tip pens, Sharpies or something...colors are the way to keep the pattern intact.

It's so beneficial to immerse in it once you get working on it. Don't take a few days off in working to the next level...I wish there was a way to do a tut, it's just beyond my capacity to put into words or even pics of an ORAAT progression. All the best of luck, perseverance and FAITH....I believe in you.

I should probably submit JPL7 and 9 to our library so there are decent pics(although Zlosks renderings are good)...I'll try and get good views, also end views to help see the pattern in a different way.

I think I did it!

I had some EC of various colors. 18awg wound around a 6.75mm mandrel.
